I envy people who can write their “about me” section with ease. I think it is mostly due to the inherent vulnerability in a space like this (for both you and me), which feels quite exposing. But here is me trying :)
About me:
Hi, I am Bhavya! I am a psychodynamic psychotherapist. In my practice, I work with adults to gently engage with their unique experiences while holding their rich subjectivity as it shapes their relationship with the world, intending to cultivate a space where their vulnerabilities are held and worked through. I hold a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology and have been working as a counselling psychologist for a little over 6 years now.
This work is not just my profession – it is something that has quietly shaped the way I think, relate, and move through the world. This is also why I envision our work as two people, the patient and the therapist, evolving the space by co-creating safety over time, through presence, care, and the quiet rhythm of being met. A significant guide of my work is the unfolding of our relationship. I pay attention to not just what is said, but to what’s felt in the room – the emotional undercurrents that don’t always arrive in words, and between us. We may approach therapy with the hope of feeling better right away, but there is a kind of movement and honesty which only surfaces when we stop trying to avoid the ache. Therefore, I see it as part of my role to hold space for that, and when needed, to gently stay with what might otherwise be turned away from.
Psychodynamic work is shaped by the belief that our childhood affects the relationships in our adulthood, which may explain our conflict with repetitive, confusing, or silently painful patterns in our relational world. These questions, or rather, disconnection, do not have easy answers. Psychodynamic therapy helps gain insight into making sense of these experiences, eventually becoming able to find resolutions. Hence, the space we build together can often become the ground for rupture and repair.
To stay honest in this work, I remain in personal therapy, engage in ongoing supervision, and participate in learning communities that help me stay connected to nuance, complexity, and humility. I have an MA in Clinical Psychology.
