Hi, I am Meenu (she/her). I'm a practicing trauma-informed psychotherapist working at the intersection of psychotherapy, research, and social work.
-
I draw from psychodynamic thinking and parts work. That means, we’ll explore how old stories and unspoken patterns shape the way you see yourself and the world. Along the way, we'll meet the many parts of you that have been at work to hold you together.
My therapeutic practice draws from relational approaches and is embedded in social justice frameworks. This gives me the space to engage with individuals in ways that honour both their inner worlds and the socio-cultural contexts that shape their experiences.
My practice, Mann with Meenu, is how I view therapy. Wherein clients bring in their mann to the room and we sit with all that Mann is wanting to express and its experience of highs and lows and of normals and the mundane. I also wish to create this space as a gentle and breather space for both my clients and me as a practitioner.
I believe you are much more than your symptoms or your current struggles. Together we will look at the "whole" of your life, holding your experiences within the broader social and cultural realities that shape who you are.. My intention is to co-create a space that feels safe, non-judgmental, reflective, and gently challenging when needed. We will create a space, where you can choose to unmask and explore both pain and possibility at a pace that honours your nervous system. -
I choose to believe in the power of love, curiosity, justice, and kindness and I try to live these values both in and outside my practice.
I'm fascinated by people's inner worlds, the ways our stories are formed, and the contradictions and parts that come together to shape a "self" that is ever evolving.
My academic and practice-based interests lie at the intersection of gender, mental health, and
cultural psychology. I am particularly interested in understanding how identity, social structures,
and cultural narratives influence psychological experiences and ways of being.
I come from a dynamic background of cultures, Nepali and maithili cultures. Therefore I speak 4 languages - Maithili, Nepali, Hindi, and English. I also provide therapy in these languages. -
I hold space for people navigating anxiety, low moods, transitions, burnout, grief, trauma, systemic trauma, and emotional overwhelm, with deep respect for each person's psyche and wisdom.
Outside of therapy and work
Outside of therapy and work I'm an overflowing bag of emotions. I love thinking, feeling, and talking about everything I think and feel.(uff!)
I'm learning, slowly and imperfectly, to be gentle with myself and to build a life that feels soft rather than rushed. I'm drawn to nature, books, deep relationships, silence, and anything that leans toward healing. Music has been a constant companion. Lyrics and ghazals sometimes soften my heart, and sometimes it hands me the strength I didn't know I needed. Either way, I usually have a playlist for it.
